After spending the day hearing travel experts give advice on where to travel and how to plan travel, I ended my time at The New York Times Travel Show by attending a panel focused on helping travel pros get better at what they do. This year was the first year that the topic applied directly to me, so I made sure to listen extra-hard.

My last post on the New York Times Travel Show focused on awesome advice from the Frommers. This post is going to focus on the best, latest online tools to help you plan your next trip. The first weekend of this month was the most wonderful time of the year! No, not Christmas–the New York Times Travel Show. My love for this event knows no bounds. Obviously, I seize this opportunity to get information and inspiration for my upcoming travels. In fact, the 2010 show inspired the safari portion of my most recent trip, which you can read all about in my earlier blog posts. In addition, I learn so much from the various seminars. So much, in fact, that I’m going to have to split up my newfound knowledge from this year’s show over my next few blog posts. First off, I have tons of information from some of the biggest names in travel: father-daughter team Arthur and Pauline Frommer.
Remember when I said that I would have some travel writing news to share? Well, here it is: The Sole Sisters blog is featuring me today in their Inspired Thursday Travel series! You can read all about it here. The post includes a few photos from my trip, but, if you would like to see more, you can check out my Kenya and Tanzania pictures. If you want to read more details about my safari, you can read my earlier posts on this very blog. Finally, if you have been bitten by the travel bug and want more information on the G Adventures safari that I took, here is the info. Thanks for reading!
Every year, after months upon months of planning (sometimes longer), I take an awesome, month-long vacation; every year, I always have friends that ask me if I will be blogging about my trip; and, every year, I always say “no”. I have always assumed that people would be completely uninterested in hearing about my trips, so I have contented myself with posting highlights here and there as my status updates on Facebook. Well, in the interest of pushing my boundaries and trying new things, I have decided to finally blog about my vacation this year: two weeks of safari in Kenya and Tanzania, five days on the beach in Zanzibar, and a week-and-a-half backpacking in South Africa.
